Alolan Fearow (fakemon contest entry)

Late entry for 's contest to design an Alolan variation of an existing pokemon. I went with fearow, a gen 1 bird that's often overlooked but that I like a lot.

Fearow is said to be able to fly far and wide with its huge wings and use its long beak to snatch prey from the ground or the water. Around islands, the Alolan ones in particular, fearow adapted to life on the seas as there's more food to be found in the sea than on the scarcer land. It gained the water type, enabling it to land and bob on the water surface and even dive down after its prey. It's flying capabilities have developed even further, allowing it to spend more time away from land, only ever landing to breed and raise its young.

The design is a mishmash of albatross, cormorant, booby/gannet and black backed seagull features, all birds which can be found in Hawaii, among other places. Alolan fearow would keep its high speed stat, maybe become a little faster, but have improved special attack and defense, making it an ideal speedy mixed attacker. Water/flying is a type shared with two other bird pokemon, fearow's speed would have it stand out.
